Who doesn’t love fresh guacamole?? Exactly… the perfect combination of smooth yet substantial avocado-goodness. Guacamole makes the perfect crowd-pleasing appetizer. One that is guaranteed to satisfy your guests (and so simple to make!). This is my go-to recipe to make 3 cups of guac:
4 ripe avocados
3 Tbl. lemon juice
8 dashes of Frank’s Red Hot (you can also use Tabasco sauce or any other hot sauce you have in your fridge)
1/2 cup small diced red onion
2 medium sized garlic cloves, minced
1 tsp. kosher salt
1 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
A pinch of crushed red pepper flakes (if you like a little zip!)
A large handful of cherry tomatoes cut in 1/4th’s
In a medium bowl: Scoop fresh from the skin of the avocado and mash with a fork. (Don’t puree! Rough mash so the avocado is still chunky.) Immediately add lemon juice, hot sauce, onion, garlic, salt and pepper. Toss well. Fold in diced tomatoes and transfer to serving bowl. Top with avocado pits. Serve with tortilla chips.
*Feel free to add some freshly squeezed lime juice, a pinch of cumin (for a smokier flavor) and/or top with some fresh cilantro! You can also toss in a diced jalapeno to really add some heat! These are great accents that can compliment your guacamole.
**BIG TIP: Make sure you leave the avocado pits in the guacamole when you serve it!! It may not look the cleanest but it will help keep the guacamole from turning brown as quickly (which is MUCH less appealing than a few pits hanging around. 😉 ).
