My very favorite kitchen tool: my Classic Wusthof knife set. Yes, worth every penny.
Everyone knows that a chef’s greatest tool is their sharpest knife. For the individuals who make their career out of cooking, some knife sets can be astronomical in price… although, for the at-home chef-wannabe (i.e. yours truly) my Wusthofs work wonders. If you’re on the hunt for a new set of knives, keep your eyes open for sales. (When the new version came out, I found mine at a heck of a great price on sale!)
Where to locate Wusthofs:
*Words of wisdom: these babies never go into the dishwasher. When you are done washing them by hand, dry them immediately. Left over water on the blade can ruin the integrity of your knife.
Direct German competitor and just as great of quality: J.A. Henckels. While their prices are pretty comparable, the handles are a little difference for each, so when picking out your own knife set, hold both and see which one feels better in your grip. I would trust either brand.
