This dessert is a family favorite, and one my grandmother would always make. It is perfect to bring to a summer BBQ.
“Loretta’s Refrigerated Dessert”
Now, I am not sure who Loretta is, nor where the recipe originally came from, but trust me, you won’t be disappointed.
Please feel free to substitute or add in wherever you feel necessary.
Crumble up a box of Lorna Doone cookies (delicious, buttery shortbread cookies), and mash together with one stick of softened butter. Mold to the bottom of a 9”x13” pan. Bake at 350*F for 10-12 minutes. Let cool.
Meanwhile, in your mixer, mix together 1 qt. softened vanilla ice cream, 2 3oz. packages of instant vanilla pudding, and 2 cups of whole milk. Pour on top of cooled Lorna Doone cookie crust. Refrigerate for at least two hours. (I normally refrigerate mine overnight.) Right before you are going to serve the dessert, smear the top with Lite Cool Whip and crushed up Heath Bars.
