This is a recipe that is made over and over in our home – New Jersey & Chicago. The recipe for my grandmother’s Chex Mix – Dill Nibbles. It is absolutely irresistible and I can guarantee you will have problems keeping your hands out of the bowl…
Whenever we have this made in our home, all you hear when someone snacking is “Get these away from me! I can’t stop eating them… I have to walk away”. I promise, you’ll feel the same way.
Preheat your oven to 275*F. Melt 1 1/2 sticks of butter in a large 9 x 13 pyrex dish (or something similar). Once butter has melted, toss one bag of Crispix Cereal in the melted butter and place back in oven. Toast for 30 minutes, tossing the cereal every 10 minutes. In a small cereal bowl, mix 6 Tbl. grated parmesan cheese, 3 tsp. dried dill, and a pinch of kosher salt. Once cereal is done toasting, sprinkle dill/parmesan mixture over cereal and toss to coat. Add a pinch of garlic salt to cereal, and a drizzle of Worcestershire sauce. (You’ll have to taste test this as you go… depending on how much garlic salt you like and what you think you should add. It should be nicely seasoned but not too salty.) Place pyrex back in oven and toast for another 10-15 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool. Toss with a variety of nuts and pretzels.
I don’t know if it’s the combination of the parmesan and dill seasoning, or what, but it is SO GOOD. Perfect for entertaining or even for a little daytime snack.
